Hunter Theorycrafting

I found that evaluating gear for hunters is very complex, depending upon many calculations.  Fortunately, the class has been around for a long time, and many folks have done the difficult math and created many wonderful tools for a hunter to evaluate gear.  This page is dedicated to gear selection for hunters.  The numbers were crunched by the Shandaras WotLK Spreadsheet on the Elitist Jerks Forums.  Zeherah was kind enough to create a web based application based on Shandras spreadsheet.  I used Zehera's Hunter DPS Analyzer and imported the armory from my hunter Draesting, and used automatic shot selection with automatic best raid buffs to create this page.  The blue text strings below the Wowhead best in slot lists, are import strings for an addon called Pawn.  With this addon installed, your tooltips will show a gear evaluation based upon the same scale used in the Wowhead "Best in Slot" links.

DEP = Damage Equivalency Points

*NOTE : Hit is only used in Statistical Evaluation based on the Hit Cap. You need 8%, minus 1% for each talent point in Focused Aim, minus 1% for Heroic Presence, if you are a Draenei, or in a party with a Draenei (within 30yds.), you will be affected by their Racial Trait of Heroic Presence. 

When you are below the Hit Cap, use the "-with Hit" "Best in Slot" list.
Pawn is an addon that allows the import of scales to the ingame tooltip and item evaluation scores. Below each link is a Pawn import string in blue.
